Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie/ The Postal Service frontman) premieres his debut single “Teardrop Windows” from his debut solo album, Former Lives (In stores – OCT 16TH)!
The 12 tracks on Former Lives were written over the course of eight years but didn’t find their fully realized form until the songwriter moved from his native Seattle down to Los Angeles. The seemingly‐disparate songs came together as a whole in Gibbard’s mind, and the album was recorded at longtime pal Aaron Espinoza’s studio, The Ship.
“Teardrop Windows” is about The Smith Tower in Seattle, WA. The building was once the pride and joy of architecture in the city but 50 years ago a new icon came along to steal its thunder. It still stands as one of the most beautiful pieces of the Seattle skyline, but goes unnoticed a little more with each passing day.
