Beloved Philadelphia band Dr. Dog are poised to release a staggering burst of vital rock ‘n’ roll with their new record Be The Void. The album is the raucous follow up to the group’s critically lauded Shame, Shame. Having evolved from a band whose primary creative outlet was the album-making process into one that favored the energy of their live performances, Dr. Dog knew they wanted to document the new dynamic they had developed on the road. Tracking live in the studio and turning up the guitars, the band has delivered a truly great cathartic rock ‘n’ roll album played with near reckless abandon and passion, blending their early punk-infused energy with the songwriting craft that made Fate and Shame, Shame fan favorites.

From the rollicking re-imagined blues of the disc’s title track to the searing guitars of “Vampire,” the frenetic urgency of “Over Here Over There” and the beautifully fuzzed out rock of “Warrior Man,” Dr. Dog’s Be The Void is a truly great rock ‘n’ roll record and the unmistakable sound of a band whose moment has arrived.

Chart topping U.K. rockers, YOU ME AT SIX kick off their co-headlining tour with The Swellers in January to support the upcoming U.S. release of their album SINNERS NEVER SLEEP, on Virgin Records in stores January 24th. The 17-date run begins in Cleveland Heights, OH on January 24th at the Grog Shop, and will close on February 14th in Los Angeles, CA at the Troubadour. The coast-to-coast run will be making stops in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

SINNERS NEVER SLEEP, was released October 2011 in the U.K. and debuted at #3 on the album charts. Produced by Garth Richardson (Biffy Clyro, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and recorded at the famous Sound Factory studio in Los Angeles, SINNERS NEVER SLEEP sees YOU ME AT SIX exploring their most mature sound to date extending the band’s scope wider than ever before. Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes guests on the dark anthem ‘Bite My Tongue’, while Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall contributes to the growling intensity of ‘Time Is Money’. The hook-infused melodies of ‘Jaws On The Floor’ and ‘Reckless’ are offset by the more introspective ‘No One Does It Better’, ‘Crash’ and ‘When We Were Younger’.

Since the release of the band’s U.K. 2010 Top 5 hit album Hold Me Down, YOU ME AT SIX have enjoyed a rush of landmark events. First was the 2010 Kerrang! Awards where they won ‘Best Single’, which was soon followed by their main stage debut at the Reading and Leeds festivals. YOU ME AT SIX were also recently named as Future Flames Ambassadors by Coca-Cola, a Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, and will help to find inspiring young people to carry the Olympic Flame next year. This year the band was named “Best British Band” at the 2011 Kerrang! Awards.

"Austin, TX natives Quiet Company have created an album that should raise plenty of eyebrows, elicit a few audible wows, and get some serious word-of-mouth buzz. We Are All Where We Belong combines different feels, influences, and energies into a work that should be sought out and listened to at full volume.

“The Confessor” opens the LP with a quiet, pulsing organ and lead singer Taylor Muse’s soft, Ben Gibbard-like vocals floating in a sea of choral ooos and ahhs. He sings, “Don’t wanna waste my time thinkin’ about the afterlife,” over one bouncy piano, all before every instrument the band can muster blasts into a raucous, church revival that would make The Polyphonic Spree envious. After that, album standout “You, Me, & the Boatman” defies you not to pump your fists amidst the exploding drums and trumpets. Muse begs his love to stay with him “until the boatman comes,” letting out some incredibly impressive screams during the line “because I don’t care about the past or future/so let’s live to love and love to live!”

Quiet Company has constructed the music to channel a kind of Saves the Day/Get Up Kids power-punk youth, only mirroring the lyrical sensibilities of, say, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy. Muse’s lyrics tell a tale of someone moving away from God and the church and questioning a belief system that seems flawed and circumspect. “The Black Sheep & the Shepherd” puts it simply: “And into safer arms we run/with a thorn in our sides and devils inside/So who are we running from?”

With well-crafted, honest lyricism and scarily catchy instrumentation, Quiet Company has created an album that sticks to your feet, but in a very enjoyable way." - CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND (4/5 Stars)

Dirty Passionate Daydreaming marks the third full length release from California indie band "The Ivy Walls" following the well received 2009 record The Elegant Universe. With a subtle blend of New Wave, shoegaze, and post punk influences, Dirty Passionate Daydreaming not only charts dreamy pop territory but also has some heavier moments with a pop sensibilty.

L.A. based musicians Ryan Varon (guitar/synth), Jeff Yanero (guitar/vocals), Adam Waldon (drums), and The Count (Bass) came together to form The Ivy Walls in 2007. With new wave/post punk stylings, they nod to several 80's and early 90's indie, dream pop, and shoegaze acts, most notably Echo and the Bunnymen, Ride, The Cure, and Cocteau Twins.

The band released and recorded their debut album Lovers in Hotels in 2008 and after a string of television placements and a low budget video featuring ANTM's Joanie Dodds, they returned to the studio once again. In 2010, they released The Elegant Universe while again finding success in film and television placements. The video for the first single from their album Getaway Driver also garnered regular play on MTV and other similar outlets.

In 2011, The Ivy Walls recorded Dirty Passionate Daydreaming at the famed Henson Studios in Los Angeles. According to the band, they used some of their earliest material on the record, which was written when the band was just a seedling.

In Jan 2012, Dirty Passionate Daydreaming hit the airwaves along with a trailer of the album's first video, which stars Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable, This Means War) and Robert Baker (Leatherheads, Grey's Antatomy), on YouTube.

The video for "All I Want" is set to release on February 1st.

"the material is as fresh as newly baked bread, and the ingredients are all top quality." - Kev A. Leicester Bangs. UK.

"The music has a film‐like quality; it's dreamy, lush, and as romantic as a Hollywood score." - XYZmp3.com

"A familiar welcoming sound" - The L.A. Times

In July 2011, I went to Austin Texas to make a record. The Hold Steady was on a four month break, and I wanted to try something a little different. Earlier in the year, I had written a bunch of songs that were outside of the norm for The Hold Steady, a little quieter and perhaps more narrative. I also wanted to gain some experience and insight into the process of making a record by working with new people.

It was July in Austin. It was hot. Really hot. I had enlisted Mike McCarthy to produce the record. I really admire his work and his thoughts on songs and recording. Prior to arriving, I had sent Mike acoustic demos of 23 songs. They were very rough recordings, just acoustic guitar and vocals recorded live into my laptop. The songs had mostly been written in the first half of 2011, when I was experimenting with trying to write a new song every day.

When I arrived in Austin, we trimmed the list down to 14 songs and made simple but good sounding recordings of each of these, each live with just acoustic and vocal. Then we talked about possible instrumentation and arrangements. We listened to records. We conceptualized and talked about what we were hearing in our heads.

The next Monday, four musicians showed up: Josh Block, Jesse Ebaugh, Ricky Ray Jackson, and Billy White. Mike had chosen them, and he chose well. We said hellos and got to work. We moved quickly. I would show them the song and they would learn it, and quickly we were rolling tape. I sang the vocals live in the studio, something I hadn't really done before. I don't believe any song took more than three takes. These players brought a ton of enthusiasm and energy to the recording. It was really exciting to watch and hear them play together. We averaged a couple songs a day. By that Friday evening we had 14 songs tracked, including the vocals.

We spent a few days listening and then did a few overdubs. We drove around in Austin, listening to rough mixes. I left Austin three weeks after I arrived. It was still really hot. When considering the songs as a whole, I realized that a lot of the songs deal with displacement, and people that are struggling while out of their element or comfort zone. A lot of the songs are about being alone. This is all pretty fertile ground for a musician that spends a lot of time on tour. It's also telling about the way we made this record, going to a friendly but fairly unfamiliar place to work with all new people.

I'm calling this record “Clear Heart Full Eyes”. It's a juxtaposed reference to Friday Night Lights, a TV show that excited and moved me and also happened in Texas. Further, “Clear Heart” signifies honesty and transparency, and “Full Eyes” suggests experience. Thus, it's about being optimistic and open without succumbing to the weariness or doubt that comes with age and experience. To me, that is what it's all about. I hope you enjoy the music. I am very proud of it.

Thank you,

“Apparently nobody told Daniel Ellsworth that when you drop your first full-length, it’s not supposed to be a greatest hits record. You’re supposed to build up to that. I say this for two reasons—just hear me out. One, every song sounds like it could be a hit. Two, every song sounds different, like each was plucked from a series of dusty vinyl, cracked cassettes and ripped MP3s. It’s all over the place in a phenomenal way. I hate comparing musicians, but this sounds like a cross between Jack White and M. Ward, and those guys are about three sips of absinthe away from total wizardry. Seriously, this will be my highest rated review. Go. Buy. The. Record.” ~ Lightning 100 & Brite Magazine ~

So it’s cliché. That doesn’t mean it’s not true. That we live in an era of blinding speed, of 160-character limits and fiber optics and dizzying TV ads, of instant gratification in every conceivable industry niche. That we are the generation of the immediate. That we’d much prefer to soak in the brine of pseudo-social media than in a nice, piping hot bath. And so it has become this seemingly impossible task to just slow up a sec, to take that extra minute with our paper cups of morning, pre-office coffee and just, you know, take in the scenery.

And yet there is hope, or so it would seem. Amid the din of modernity comes the sound of a new idea, an idea in the not unattractive shape of a band by the name of Daniel Ellsworth and The Great Lakes. Or, more precisely, in the shape of the honest but audacious sound that has come to define their music. Now, mind you, we’re not talking about simple reminiscence here, and Ellsworth’s songs are certainly not throwbacks, but there’s a sense of (dare I say it?) timelessness and even wonder to the melodies and the distinctive voice that drives them.

Though they now call Nashville their home, the members of The Great Lakes hail from across our great nation (Joel, drummer, Wichita, KS; Marshall, bass guitar, Columbus, OH; Timon, regular guitar, Youngstown, OH; Daniel, everything else, Minneapolis, MN), bringing with them (besides their clothes and stuff) a unique mélange of stories and the diverse cultures of their respective hometowns. Their self-produced album, Civilized Man, recorded by Mark Nevers (Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Andrew Bird, Yo La Tengo) at Beech House in Nashville, TN, is itself something of a departure from the singer / songwriter category of the rest of Ellsworth’s catalog. As the first official release from the band, it represents a fresh start musically- a whole new set of influences, from The Talking Heads to Wilco, is welcomed into the mix.

When all is said and done, what most of us need is a distraction from distraction, a reminder of the things (and the people, for some of us) that we love. Daniel Ellsworth and The Great Lakes, through the songs and through the stories, provides just that. Theirs is the sort of music that suggests (maybe without actually coming out and saying it) that you stop and smell the roses or, if you really, truly can’t afford to spare those precious seconds, then at least to enjoy the pleasant, rosy blur that they form in your periphery as you sprint by. ~ Bio written by Evan Goodberry ~

Big Sir is the longtime collaboration between singer/composer Lisa Papineau and bassist/composer Juan Alderete (The Mars Volta). Since its inception in the late 90s, Big Sir has explored a vast array of work centered on the fulcrum of electronic and analog beats, Alderete's fretless bass and Papineau's dynamic voice. Their forthcoming third official full length album Before Gardens After Gardens is the culmination of the duo's enduring musical partnership. Says Alderete, "I think the beauty of what we do lies in our commitment to each other as artists. We will always put out music together because we respect each other's artistic perspective so much. I run everything I have ever created by her."

At times danceable, others darkly haunting, the album is as visually evocative and it is musically compelling. "Something that Juan and I have shared since our last album is that we've found out that we have chronic life-threatening illnesses," Papineau explains. "Illnesses that make us face that our bodies are not permanent. More and more I started thinking, or really, was needing to think about how you don't fold up in terror having that constantly in the foreground." The fear and uncertainty that we all face in contemplation of death, and the varying ways we all make peace with it is the basis of the album's overall concept. "The hymn 'Amazing Grace' speaks to the death of pride," Papineau says, "the death of believing yourself to be omnipotent, and how joyful and sweet this humble giving-in can be. So, on our album, Death is a ship, and her name is The Calico." It's an album of dance and celebration in death's insistent embrace.

Though created mostly in a back and forth between each other's laptops, Before Gardens After Gardens features special guest appearances by The Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala on drums, Broken Bells' bassist Jonathan Hischke, multi-instrumentalist Matthieu Lesenechal, violist Heather Lockie (Mike Watt, Listing Ship), Matthew Embree (who also collaborates with Papineau in the duo ME & LP), Mars Volta drummer Deantoni Parks and a host of others on backing vocals. Bonus tracks also include performances by Money Mark Ramos-Nishita and David Sims of Jesus Lizard.

The album opens with a slithering fretless bass line that climbs alongside a round of Papineau's voices swirling around one another on "Regions." The unabashed pop hooks of "Ready On the Line" follows with electro-pulse beats, chiming synth bell- like loops and Papineau's powerful siren song highlighting the album's melancholy joy. "The Kindest Hour" begins with Alderete's soft bass chords and Lockie's violent viola trills leading into a distant, shimmering organ and lightly brushed drums reminiscent of the neoclassical innovations of Talk Talk's legendary The Colour of Spring. The song builds as the instruments intertwine before breaking wide open into a driving rhythm section. A plaintive piano leads the somber "Born with a Tear" underscored by delicately pirouetting bass line and pattering drum beats as Papineau intones, "You say the words and all the words make the tongue go numb..." Throughout, it's an album of subtlety and masterfully arranged voices -- both human and otherwise merged into one enveloping whole.

Big Sir began with a self-titled debut album and a remix disc in 2000 and 2001 respectively. The next Big Sir album Und Die Scheiße Ändert Sich Immer was released in 2006. Alderete and Papineau first met in the band Pet. Throughout their relationship the two musicians have also continued their collaborations with other artists. Papineau has lent her vocals to a spectrum of projects such as the last two Air albums (10,000 Khertz, Talkie Walkie), M83's Before the Dawn Heals Us, and soundtracks for the films Watchmen and Super. She has released two solo albums, Night Moves and Red Trees, and recently co-wrote (with Jun Miyake) and sang on a song for Wim Wenders' Academy Award short-listed film Pina. Alderete has played in the Grammy award winning The Mars Volta since 2003 as well as playing bass with rap legend Kool Keith's Dr. Octagon and the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group. In 1999, he formed the project Vato Negro and released the album Bumpers on drum & bass label N2O.

The Smiths were one of the U.K.'s brightest pop acts of the '80s, with singer Morrissey setting his witty and emotionally honest lyrics against Johnny Marr's serpentine, arpeggiated guitar lines. This tribute smartly avoids trying to mimic the band's singular charm, aiming to redefine the songs as if they'd always been part of each performer's catalog. Trespassers William slow down "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" until it purrs with sweetness. Solvents turn "Is It Really So Strange" into a campfire clap-along. Elk City interprets "I Know It's Over" as a skipping piece of Chamber pop. Belly's Tanya Donelly finds an intimacy to "Shoplifters of the World Unite." Kitten retains the firepower of "Panic" with a Eurodisco sound resembling Blondie. Greg Laswell sits at the piano for a dramatic take on "Half A Person." William Fitzsimmons whispers the lullaby "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want," and the legendary Wedding Present adds a muscular power to "Hand in Glove." It's a worthwhile tribute that reinvents the songs while retaining The Smiths' glorious spirit.

"...Morrissey and his (charming) men get the sweet-and-tender treatment from alt-pop types, including Sixpence None the Richer and Mandy Moore pal Mike Viola, who classes up "How Soon Is Now?" with movie-score strings." - Mikael Wood, Entertainment Weekly

"...An awesome cover-compilation!" - Paste Magazine

"...For its latest effort, American Laundromat Records has once again gone above and beyond the call of duty. The subject band, while certainly legendary in the rock world, probably falls into a narrower niche of fans than any previous projects. Thankfully, the bands that cover the songs of Morrissey and Co. here are obviously part of that niche. Listening to acts such as Kitten, Tanya Donelly and The Wedding Present give their respective takes on "Panic," "Shoplifters of the World Unite" and "Hand in Glove" makes you wonder what Morrissey himself might think of the efforts. For fans of The Smiths, "Please, Please, Please" is like discovering these songs all over again." -Devin Grant, Post & Courier

"...it’s not only deep cuts that get covered on this 20-track collection -- plenty of folks take a crack at the monsters of Smith-dom. Joy Zipper slows down "What Difference Does It Make?", largely de-clawing it but making it more meditative and not without its charms; Mike Viola boldly turns in a chamber pop rendering of "How Soon Is Now"; Donelly goes unplugged for "Shoplifters of the World Unite"; and vets The Wedding Present deliver a highlight in a noisy, buzzing version of "Hand in Glove". That song was of course famously covered in 1984 by the great Sandie Shaw, and a vintage shot of Shaw graces the cover of Please, Please, Please, whose other notable tracks include "Reel Around the Fountain" from Built To Spill’s Doug Martsch, a sparkling, orchestral "Stop Me" from The Rest, and a couple of current indie rock luminaries: Telekinesis, who infuse a jolt of pep into "Sheila Take a Bow," and Katy Goodman of La Sera and Vivian Girls, does the opposite, reining in "What She Said" into something acoustic and lovely." - Noisevox.com

"...Several big names turn out to show their interpretations of Moz & Marr’s classics: Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch supplies an easygoing “Reel Around the Fountain”, while Telekinesis provide a raucous cover of “Sheila Take a Bow”. There’s also an unexpected appearance from Sixpence None the Richer with a warm, sunny take on “I Won’t Share You” and a fuzz-drenched rocker version of “Hand in Glove” by The Wedding Present. The best (and furthest straying) of these is Girl in a Coma’s backwoodsy, foot-stomping “Rubber Ring” cover. Surprisingly, it’s the lesser-known names that steal the show: Kitten’s spacey, upbeat take on “Panic”, Cinerama’s sample-peppered, soothingly ambient cover of “London”, and Tonya Donelly and Dylan in the Movies’ soft, heartfelt acoustic version of “Shoplifters of the World Unite” are all showstoppers. Dala’s smoky cabaret cover of “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me” is possibly more heartbreaking than the original. Mike Viola and The Section Quartet swap heavily tremolo-ed guitars for moody strings on one of the more unique versions of “How Soon Is Now?” laid to record. Listing every solid track’s merits would take too long; there’s hardly a dud among the two-disc set’s 20 tracks. American Laundromat Records has assembled an outstanding and highly varied assortment of Smiths covers for their tribute record. Each and every artist shows a reverence and love towards the material they’re working with; many take respectful liberties with their songs, giving a refreshing take on the music for those who know every lyric by heart and perhaps shedding a new light on the band for those who don’t fall into The Smiths’ cult worship camp." -Austin Trunick, Consequence of Sound

THE LEFT are a close-knit family of light-hearted brothers and cousins. This exceptionally talented band of entertainers grew up in the same village of Langley, British Columbia and attended the same high school and college. All were taught music by the same teacher, Mr. Davis (father of brothers Eric and Carl). This tight family bond has developed an “all for one, one for all” attitude, which transfers to the stage in perfected four-part harmony as they share in the musical responsibilities of THE LEFT.

The romantic and thought-provoking music of THE LEFT seems to flow from the band effortlessly. Driven with an emotional undertone of “melancholy meets hope” and delivered through a crafted wall of inspired sound, THE LEFT have a knack for creating integral songs, flushed full of heartfelt honesty and substance. Inspired by contemporary favorites such as Death Cab For Cutie, with respects paid to classic giants of our time such as the Beatles and Coldplay, THE LEFT is a new movement, gaining quick momentum and allegiance with loyal followers - and they’re only just beginning to shine!

THE LEFT was produced by multi-platinum award- winning GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Ben Kaplan (Shakira, Hedley). Each song has been a work of love and the band has been developing their sound with this team for the past five years. Radio will be pleased as the CD was mixed by one of the most prolific mixers of the last decade, Randy Staub (Bryan Adams, U2) and professionally mastered in Hollywood by world-renowned Alan “Blues Lee” Yoshida (Paul McCartney, Miles Davis).

¿Which Side Are You On? marks DiFrancoʼs first studio album in more than three years. The collection features a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, originally written by Florence Reece and famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today. Whatʼs more, Ani is joined on her stunning new version of “¿Which Side Are You On?” by the aforementioned Pete Seeger, whom she praises as “my elder, my forefather in folk music and political song.”

The album represents an extraordinary snapshot of DiFrancoʼs own life as well as her sense of where the country stands at this particular moment in time. The long gap since 2008ʼs acclaimed Red Letter Year offered an array of new opportunities, including a backlog of songs and the ability to painstakingly fine-tune new recordings. Ani tackles some of the many crises that are currently confronting the nation and the world, spanning environmental disaster, government inaction, and a culture hooked on comfort and acquisition at any cost. Songs such as “Amendment” and “J” see DiFranco addressing these issues with a directness that is striking even for an artist long known for her activism and outspoken point of view.

Now Aniʼs recommendation about the albumʼs opening track “Life Boat” can be said to apply to ¿Which Side Are You On? as a whole: “Just listen, drop your idea of who is singing and what you already know theyʼre saying, and go somewhere else, open yourself up to a new story.”

It feels like the world is ending, but Streight Angular are here to party! In a time of political, financial and social change, Streight Angular release their most daring and poignant work to date. Moving forward from where their celebrated album “After and Before” (Polk Records, 2010) left off, Everyone is Syncopated EP keeps you dancing, while tickling your mental neurons. Everyone is Syncopated EP is a collection of songs that are striking and entertaining at the same time. Subjects are wide-ranging: interrogation, shopping, the environment, the woes of online dating, and the struggles of living in a post-modern age. Imagery abounds within Everyone is Syncopated EP: “Ozone layer...snow caps are melting, energy manipulating, polar bears disintegrating, all the seals evacuating.” Itʼs perfect for a generation who feels lost and wanting for something more, who are looking for music with substance, rather than fast food and commercial fillers.

Punk, Rock, Dance - itʼs all here. From the first track your head will be bobbing and your toes tapping along. There is something for everyone. With five brand new songs, Streight Angular invite you to share your worries, your fears, your pain, and your insecurities and leave them behind to find freedom. The title track “Everyone is Syncopated” is a grooving banger with a huge chorus. “Supermarché” is an off kilter jittery mess of pop punk. “In My Bed, Not My Head” is a lighting bolt of sound hearkening the days of old when people still had telephones in their homes. “Oh Gurl” is a modern Beach Boys dream. “Hot Pot Anaconda” is a sweaty jungle of love. Everyone is Syncopated EP is so strange, yet so easily accessible. It is a colorful journey through the realms of magical psychedelia that will have you traveling through genres to a new era in music.

Everyone is Syncopated EP was recorded in 4 different locations in Massachusetts over the span of a year, with three different producers: Travis Hagan, Kenny Pappaconstantinou, and Charles Haywood Murphy IV. It was mastered by the inimitable Luke Sullivan (Left Hand Does). It was released on Polk Records (Boston) and The Whitehaus Family Record (Boston) in January 2012.

We are bombarded at every turn with the latest trend and/or gadget created to distract us and fill us with temporary joy. Everyone is Syncopated EP is the soundtrack to fall in love to, to listen to on the way to work - to find a reason to believe, while the world around us falls apart. Streight Angular aren't the voice of a generation, they are the product of a generation.

Nominated "BEST NEW ARTIST" - Boston Music Awards

Nominated "BEST NEW ARTIST" - Boston Phoenix

"Pop-y and punk-y with driving choruses that only just got their learner’s permits--that’s Boston’s own Streight Angular for you being all neon-beardy and whatnot." - Weekly Dig.

"Pure rock candy on sugar-perched lips, Streight Angular is the trick for the treaters and the treat for the tricksters." - Boston Phoenix

“John Samson’s lyrics move me with their detail and empathy. He has an ability to explain feelings we’ve all had but couldn’t verbalize. His songs are beautiful, brutal, honest and comforting, all at the same time.”—Craig Finn, The Hold Steady

Since 1997, John K. Samson has written four acclaimed albums with The Weakerthans. The band's most recent studio release Reunion Tour garnered praise from an assortment of publications including Paste Magazine, who said, "If such a prize existed, it would be the leading candidate for this year's Punk Pulitzer."

Provincial, Samson’s first solo release began with a simple idea: to explore four different roads in Manitoba, the Canadian province where Samson lives. “They're the places I kept going back to.” Samson talked to relatives, friends and strangers; he visited archives, a tuberculosis sanatorium-turned-RV park, a forgotten cemetery. For a video glimpse of Provincial’s prairie roadmap, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfqLrWMMPZ4

The result is this collection of evocative songs, an album that fits beside Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, Sun Kil Moon’s Ghosts Of The Great Highway, Mountain Goats’ Tallahassee. While the teenage craving of “Cruise Night” recalls the Cars, “Stop Error” invokes Bach; for “When I Write my Master’s Thesis,” Samson’s inspiration was all jukebox serendipity—Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” sailing out from the corner of a Yukon dive-bar. Provincial is a record full of fierce, tuneful, vivid stories.

A Shoreline Dream has been best described as creating “melodipsych night music” by combining lush sampled textures, waves of crashing guitars and a wall of vocals layered like a synth, similar in vein to bands such as Cocteau Twins, Porcupine Tree and Sigur Rós. Originating & recording in Denver, Colorado, through the years they have joined forces with German Mastermind Ulrich Schnauss and Mark Kramer (Low / Joy Zipper / Galaxie 500) on numerous releases, including their sophomore LP “Recollections of Memory”, the “neverChanger” EP, and their 2011 single titled “London” (Track #7), which was written while singer Ryan Policky was on a visit to Ulrich’s studio.

After six years of self promotion through their own home brewed label "latenight weeknight records" the band found themselves branching in directions of experimental sound and recording techniques, utilizing their home studio to it's full potential. Every release to date has been fully in their control, with each track given as much love as the last, and every room in the home used in one way or another during the recording process.

2010 brought on multiple festival dates, including a featured slot at SXSW and Midpoint Music Festival. Later, in the fall, A Shoreline Dream opened for the legends of shoegaze, Chapterhouse, after coordinating the date with the band in London. This was Chapterhouse’s last show of their reunion tour while out in San Francisco, and quite possibly their last show ever.

After finalizing and releasing their sonic version of the Fleetwood Mac classic “The Chain” (Track #8), a single released digitally in early 2011, a shoreline dream has recently completed their third LP titled "losing them all to this time", which has been two years in the making. The album tells the story of how easy it is for us all to lose track of time, and the realization that every good relationship and lifespan... eventually comes to an end.

LITTLE BRUTES is Rachael Cantu and Harlan Silverman, an LA based indie-pop duo with irresistible melodies, infectious lyrics and beautifully executed instrumentation.

Harlan, a Berkeley School of Music trained multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, has gained notoriety for his work with The Belle Brigade and Alex and Sam. Rachael, a self-taught singer/songwriter, has released two solo albums, "Run All Night" and "Far and Wide", and toured internationally with Tegan and Sara, Ben Lee, Pat Benatar and B.B. During their downtime on the southern leg of the tour, Harlan and Rachael began their collaboration almost accidentally. In their dressing room before shows, Harlan would improvise guitar melodies while Rachael made up lyrics to go along.

What initially began as a fun and creative way to pass the time turned into an easy and organic songwriting partnership. The seeds of the songs they wrote while traveling with B.B. King have grown into their debut EP, an earnest reflection of the duality of loving life on the road and missing the loved ones left behind.

The Black Keys’ new album El Camino was released December 6 on Nonesuch Records. Produced by Danger Mouse and The Black Keys, the 11-track album was recorded at singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in the band’s new hometown of Nashville during the spring of 2011.

El Camino follows the most successful two years in The Black Keys’ career. In May 2010 they released their breakthrough album, Brothers, to widespread critical acclaim. Debuting at #2 in the U.S., it went on to win three Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award, and topped numerous year-end lists, including iTunes, NPR, and Rolling Stone. Brothers, which included the hit singles “Tighten Up” and “Howlin’ for You,” has been certified Gold in the U.S. and U.K., and Platinum in Canada. Worldwide sales are now over one million and counting.

Drummer Patrick Carney said of the band’s recent success, “We’ve taken the long road to get where we are. It’s pretty cool to be in your early 30s making music with your best friend. We’ve experienced everything from driving a thousand miles to play for no one to winning Grammys.” Auerbach further describes the band’s dynamic, “We don't talk before we play. We don’t practice before we record, we just fly by the seat of our pants.” He says of El Camino, “I think where this record is going to shine for me is playing the songs live. This record is more straight ahead rock and roll—raw, driving, and back to basics.”

The Black Keys—Akron, OH natives Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney—released their debut album, The Big Come Up, in 2002, followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004). In 2006 they signed to Nonesuch Records in the U.S. and released their fourth album, Magic Potion, which was followed by the Danger Mouse-produced Attack & Release in 2008. El Camino is the first Black Keys album Nonesuch will release worldwide.

Theodore Grimm dedicates this album to the memory of their bass player Jason Metzinger, although he never got to see this album released he is surely somewhere smiling down, hoping you enjoy it!

"Nutley's Theodore Grimm call themselves "New Jersey Dance Rock." It's not dance music in the traditional sense; rather, the band plays ferocious indie-rock with elements of punk, new-wave, and garage that just make you want to move. The band's been knocking around the Jersey scene for a while, playing everywhere from the gritty all-ages DIY basement space the Meat Locker to Maxwell's. This album includes new and old material and should appeal to fans of modern rock, from the Foo Fighters to U2. Guitars, bass, drums, and vocals combine with a fiery intensity and memorable melodies." - Jim Testa | NJ.com

"The quartet has been creating their infectious, hip-shaking, dance rock beats since 2003 and is still going strong through years of hard work. Taking influences of 60’s bands like Strawberry Alarm Clock and The Rolling Stones, they have created a cool blend of psychedelic, garage rock that has been described as “spazzed out spooky rock” and “everything that is good and well in rock ‘n’ roll with a flavoring of 80s college alternative and the Midwest of the 90s (read: emotive) with a punch of psychedelia thrown in to taste.” - Jeanette | EatSleepBreatheMusic.com

"Theodore Grimm's debut full length “Sharp Teeth, Crooked Jaws” is here. And a lot of us are excited to listen to it and bear witness as it percolates into the world. This New Jersey rock band will start to get the recognition it rightfully deserves. The guys have been working towards this album release for a while and what they have achieved will give the listener something new to blast at house parties and accompany you on a late night trip through the city. When you need something that just amps you go for ”Sharp Teeth, Crooked Jaws!” Dig it a lot. Buy the album." - Loudvine.com

"More complex than you'll notice on a first or even second listen, 'Spoon' goes places your standard pop doesn't. It's an intriguing look at a band trying their hand at a second genre-- and succeeding." - Pitchfork (Best New Track)

Boris has long been celebrated for their rare ability to reinterpret a multitude of esoteric musical genres into a sound uniquely their own. New Album finds the intrepid Japanese trio etching their own post-noise, extreme pop niche with some of their most accessible and melodic music being equally their most subversive. Where their two previous albums, Attention Please and the all new Heavy Rocks -- both released by Sargent House on the same day, May 24th, 2011 -- offered divergent expansions to their sonic palette, New Album is the culmination of the band's ongoing experimentation that catapults its ferocious sound headlong into new territory.

Much of the inspiration behind New Album derives from a confluence of ideas regarding the very basic notion of music as art in the modern age. The band was inspired by a current Japanese pop music trend in which a singing synthesis software program called Vocaloid, which enables users to create songs simply by typing in lyrics and a basic melody to be sung by an imaginary anime character vocalist. It has resulted in many chart topping hits created by people with little musical ability (vaguely similar to the success of Autotuned instant stardom in the US). On the other end of the spectrum, New Album also flips the script on the long established notion of the band as an experimental noise act - - based upon their prior albums as well as collaborations with sonic deconstructionist Merzbow and doom-drone duo Sunn 0))). It proves their enviable skill at penning catchy melodies that many of their extreme noise fans would consider reviling "noise" from their perspective. It's a dual jab addressing the rapidly changing landscape of music that situates Boris once again as innovators in their constant challenging of archetypes. And, it showcases the band's ability to embody the essence of myriad musical styles in Boris' own monolithic form.

The 10-track New Album features a handful of revamped versions of songs from both Attention Please and Heavy Rocks (2011), along with a few new tracks, hyper-charged and rearranged with the assistance of radical Japanese producer Shinobu Narita resulting in a sound that could best be described as extreme pop. It shares both the hummable heft of Nirvana's Nevermind and the entrancing, droning haze of My Bloody Valentine's classic Loveless, run through two previous decades' worth of electronic exploration and the merging of underground noise with sugary mainstream gloss. Boris usually self-produce their recordings, so working with a popular producer is quite an exception. The disc was first issued as a Japan-only release in March 2011, but this rearranged and remastered worldwide edition features a reorganized track listing and four songs not available on either Attention Please or Heavy Rocks.

These eternal masters of the aesthetic 180-degree shift, Boris prove once again with New Album just how deftly the band can tackle seemingly disparate musical elements and forge new sounds that may seem inconceivable to other artists. New Album was available on limited LP/CD on November 25th, 2011 in celebration of Record Store Day: Back To Black Friday and LP/CD/Download on December 6th via Sargent House.

Since their inception in 1984, The Mighty Mighty BossToneS have been one of rock music’s most prolific touring and recording bands. During their 27 year career they have played thousands of shows all over the world and released a slew of ground breaking albums.

The BossToneS formed when Cambridge, Massachusetts high school chums Joe Gittleman, Nate Albert and Ben Carr approached Dicky Barrett about fronting their new band. Barrett agreed and brought in his pals Tim Bridwell and Tim Burton on horns. They were joined by drummer Josh Dalsimer. In early 1984 the band played its first gigs in several clubs and barrooms around Boston. Barrett, Gittleman, Burton and Carr have remained constant members. The current line-up also includes drummer Joe Sirois, who replaced Dalsimer in 1991, Saxaphonist Kevin Lenear, an early member who left the band in 1998 and returned in 2008, and guitarist Lawrence Katz and trombonist Chris Rhodes, both of whom joined in 2000.

The BossToneS are credited as a progenitor of the ska-punk genre, and the creators of its sub-genre ska-core, a form of music which mixes ska with punk and hardcore. Since the release of their 1989 debut album Devil’s Night Out, the band has toured and recorded extensively. They were a key figure in the development of the mid-90’s “Third Wave” ska scene and one of the first bands to popularize the genre in the musical mainstream with their platinum-selling 1997 album Let’s Face It, and its hit single “The Impression That I Get.” They have also earned the reputation as one of the hardest touring bands in rock. The band released seven studio albums, three EPs and a live album by the time they announced a hiatus in December 2003.

In the fall of 2007 the BossToneS reunited to resume touring and recording, releasing their eighth studio album, Pin Points and Gin Joints, in December 2009. Their newest album, The Magic of Youth, will be released on December 6, 2011.
